Wiser rewarded for weekend performances

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – K.C. Wiser has been named Northwest Conference Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league’s sports information directors Tuesday.

Wiser posted a pair of 20-point games over the weekend, including 27 points in a win against Simpson University and 28 points in a last-second loss to Warner Pacific. He shot a stellar .686 (24-35) from the floor and .700 (7-of-10) from the free throw line, and also hauled in an average of 8.5 rebounds per contest.

This season, the returning NWC All-Star is averaging 23.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He leads the team in all three categories. He has scored 20 points in five of seven games this season, and is shooting a blistering .600 (66-of-110) from the floor and .778 (28-of-36) from the free throw line.

Wiser ranks first in the conference for scoring average and is third in rebounding.

This is the first student-athlete of the week honor of the season for Wiser and the third of his career. He is the first Wildcat to receive the weekly award this year.

UP NEXT: The ‘Cats return to action Monday for a nonconference matchup against Northwest Christian. Game time is 8 p.m. in Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
