Hedin snags All-America honors

WACO, Texas – Eric Hedin has been named to the 2010 American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches’ All-America Team, as voted on by the nation’s coaches. The 25-member team was announced Monday.

Hedin was the sole representative from the Northwest Conference to receive the honor. He receives a plaque commemorating his selection to the team.

On the season, Hedin tallied 80 total tackles, including 36 tackles for loss and 22 sacks. He made himself known to opposing offenses multiple ways, finishing the year with four pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, three fumble recoveries and three blocked kicks.

The senior defensive end graduates as Linfield’s single-season record holder in sacks after finishing the year with 22 quarterback takedowns. He also ranks first in tackles for loss and yards from sacks in a single season, and career tackles for loss.

The Wildcats advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs, falling to the University of St. Thomas.
