McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield triumphed in 16 of 18 individual events and was the top finisher in three of four relays to easily win both sides of a dual meet with the visiting College of Idaho Friday night at the Linfield Aquatics Center.
The Wildcat women topped the Coyotes 137-56 while the Linfield men led the team scoring by a 107-74 count.
On the women’s side, Chrissy Baumgartner (Fr., Kenmore, Wash.) won both the 400-yard individual medley and the 100 freestyle. Freshman Megan Sandall (Fr., Bellevue, Wash.) prevailed in both the 50 and the 500 freestyle events. Katie Main (Fr., Mill Creek, Wash.) was a double event winner for the ‘Cats, capturing the 100 breaststroke and the 100 butterfly. Stephanie Longmate (Fr., Poulsbo, Wash.) won the 1,000 freestyle while Rhiannon Ladwig (Fr., Boise, Idaho) took the 100 backstroke.
For the Linfield men, Yusuke Kobayashi (Sr., Honolulu, Hawaii) was the top finisher in the 100 butterfly and the 50 freestyle while fellow senior Dominic Rieniets (Sr., Sherwood, Ore.) won both the 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle. Seth Ruwitch (Fr., Canby, Ore.) shaved nearly 15 seconds off his previous best to win the 400 IM while Daniel Werner (Fr., Tillamook, Ore.) clocked 52.33 to nip Ruwitch in the 100 freestyle. Steve Hill (Fr., Independence, Ore.) won the 100 breaststroke to help pace the Wildcats.
NEXT: Linfield hosts Pacific Saturday in a 1 p.m. Northwest Conference dual meet, marking the final competition prior to the holiday break.
