Amber Calcagno had a look at goal in the fifth minute from a Linfield corner. Rennika Doty (Jr., McMinnville, Ore.) lofted a ball to the back post as Calcagno slipped away from her defender, but her header flew over the crossbar.
Emma Triplett found herself in on goal against starting Bruin’s goalie Sally Page in the 17th minute. Triplett was able to shrug off a defender for a shot, but Page got a hand to the ball.
George Fox took the lead with four minutes left in the first half. Schaefer picked up the ball at the top of the 18 yard box and placed at shot into the far post, beating a diving Kelsey Hasselblad (Jr., Seattle, Wash.).
Jenny McKinsey tested Hasselblad first in the second half, attempting to replicate Schaefer’s goal, but Hasselblad was able to get a hand to the ball, pushing it over the crossbar.
Calcagno set up Miles for a first time shot in the 50th minute with a cross from the left side and while Mile’s connected well, her power sent the ball soaring over the crossbar.
Schaefer snatched her second of the game on 58 minutes. Schaefer broke through the middle of the Wildcat defense to take Hasselblad one-on-one and while Hasselblad got a hand to the shot, she was unable to keep it out of the net.
The Bruins didn’t let off the gas and McKinsey had another break away down the right side before rolling her shot wide of the far post in the 70th minute.
Linfield pulled one back with 15 minutes left with Amy Kestek (Soph., West Linn, Ore.) making an immediate contribution after coming in off the bench. Kestek broke around her marker to get to the goal line and played a low cross towards the near post to Kelli Gillespie who played the ball onto an on-rushing Triplett for an easy tap in.
Linfield created a host of late opportunities, but was unable to capitalize and the Bruins held onto the win.
Linfield was the constant threat on offense, outshooting George Fox 21-10. Hasselblad made five saves and Page made 12.
