KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Sprinting to a 3-0 lead only nine minutes into the match while holding their opponent without a single look at the goal for more than 47 minutes, the Wildcats came away from Steen Sports Park on a hot Wednesday afternoon with an easy 4-0 victory over host Oregon Tech.

Peppering the Owls (2-3-1) back line with 30 shots, including 21 on frame, Linfield was never seriously challenged in the lopsided win to remain a perfect 3-0 in preseason action.

Emily Fellows notched the first two goals within 8½ minutes of the opening whistle, Marisa Specht added a third just 9:08 into the match and Jessie Hargett tacked on a fourth for good measure in the 62nd minute.

For Specht and Hargett, the scores were a pair of career firsts. The two also became the seventh and eighth Wildcats, respectively, to score goals this season; Linfield has outscored its opponents 12-1 on the year and holds a 66-11 in shot attempts through three matches.

Against the Owls, the Wildcats cashed in on just their second attempt of the game on Fellows' unassisted goal from about 10 yards out. The junior doubled Linfield’s lead in the ninth minute, heading in a clean assist from Molly McCool.

Specht followed up almost immediately, receiving a pass from Ellie Schmidt and finishing right in front of the goal.

The Wildcats kept OIT junior Rebekah Matteri on her toes the rest of the half, forcing the keeper into making five more saves before the buzzer rang.

Offensively, the Owls had nothing to contribute until the second stanza, when a pair of successive corner kicks and shots from Rebekah Nisbet within the first three minutes of action still yielded no results.

Oregon Tech kept pressuring, however, finally coming close on Kayla Campbell’s look in the 50th minute. But Taylor Collinsworth, seeing her first action this season, made the save to preserve the lead and the shutout.

Hargett re-entered the match in the 61st minute, and earned her first career collegiate goal just 41 seconds later. The junior midfielder scored from about 25 yards out.

Collinsworth and Amy Hammerquist made three total saves in combining for the shutout, Linfield’s second straight of the season.

COMING UP: Linfield and Corban face off Saturday in the preseason conclusion for the Wildcats. Match time at Warrior Field in Salem is set for 1 p.m.
