Linfield women’s basketball players Katelyn Henson and Kaely Maltman have been chosen for inclusion on the Northwest Conference all-star team, as announced Thursday by the league office following a vote of the nine head coaches.
Henson earned her first all-NWC nod, garnering second team honors. Maltman was recognized for the second time in three seasons, receiving honorable mention.
Henson, a sophomore guard/forward, was the Wildcats’ leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points. She also pulled in a team-best 8.3 rebounds during the season while starting all 22 games. Henson also averaged 1.5 steals, 1.0 assists and 0.8 blocked shots per game.
Maltman also started every contest on the Linfield front line, averaging 11.8 points and 7.0 rebounds and a team-high 2.8 assists per contest. She also shot a club-best .516 from the field. Maltman was also earned an honorable mention citation as a freshman during the 20010-11 season.
Together, the two veteran Wildcats accounted for 45 percent of Linfield’s scoring output this winter. Linfield finished with a 3-19 overall record.
Lewis & Clark's Kristina Williams was appointed the NWC Player of the Year. Whitman's Michelle Ferenz received the conference's Coach of the Year award.
