For the second straight week, Linfield men's soccer is being honored at the conference level. This time it is
(Sr., Portland, Ore.) receiving recognition as the NWC Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced Monday following a vote of the league's sports information directors.
DeGrandmont totaled four goals on the weekend – two in each match – as Linfield picked up victories over Pacific (4-2) and George Fox (3-1). He scored both game winners, running his season total to a team-leading eight scores in his rookie campaign. That number ranks second among all Northwest Conference players this season, but first among freshmen. With the eight goals and two assists, DeGrandmont also leads the Wildcats with 18 points on the year.
A little more than halfway through the conference season, Linfield sits in third place with a 5-3-1 mark against league opponents and an 8-4-1 overall record. The ‘Cats have won five straight conference matches for the first time since the 2004 season, and have surpassed their win total from all of last year. Statistically speaking, Linfield ranks fourth in offensive production with 27 goals, and has allowed the second fewest goals (13).
COMING UP: The Wildcats continue a four-match homestand with Saturday and Sunday contests against Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran, respectively. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
