Duarte's seven goals carries 'Cats

AURORA, Ill. – Shelby Duarte fired in a career-high seven goals, Halee Helgerson potted three goals and assisted on three others, and the Linfield Wildcats broke a losing streak that spanned three seasons with a resounding 16-6 victory over Aurora University at Vago Field.
The Wildcats pulled away from a 1-all tie with seven straight goals to establish control. Duarte tallied three times during the run while Kelsey Damarell also added two more goals.
Duarte found the back of the net three more times before the break, including a buzzer-beating goal that stretched the Linfield lead to eight, 11-3.
The ‘Cats never trailed by fewer than seven goals the rest of the way. Seven different Wildcats recorded goals in the contest. Scoring single points were Chas Tittle, Sierra Edgerly, Zoe Young, Hana Gould.
Erika Phillipo turned away eight shots to earn the win in goal for Linfield.
Linfield (1-9) ended its skid of 21 games without a win, a streak that dated to the 2012 season. Aurora dropped its fifth contest in six outings this spring.
Danielle Morgan led the Spartans with two goals.
