Maloof named NWC Athlete of the Week
Leading the Wildcats on back-to-back nights, including a go-ahead three-pointer in the final minute against the Pacific Boxers, Wildcats senior forward Kyle Maloof (Sr., Claremont, Calif.) was named Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. The honor was announced earlier this week after a vote of the conference's sports information directors.
Maloof was the go-to man last weekend as Linfield beat Pacific but lost to George Fox with both games coming down to the wire. Scoring a team-high 17 points against the Boxers and 28 versus the Bruins, Maloof shot better than 50 percent from the field (58.6 percent).
Not just a scoring threat, Maloof collected an average of eight rebounds and more than three assists per game.
Maloof is the first Wildcat to be recognized as the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for men's basketballl during the 2016-17 season.
Linfield travels to Tacoma to face Pacific Lutheran on Friday then returns home Saturday to tackle Willamette. The Wildcats will honor seniors Maloof, Mason Rodby (Sr., Redmond, Ore.) and Austin Daniels (Sr., Pasadena, Calif.) on Saturday as part of Senior Day festivities. This is also the final game of the regular season with Linfield in contention for a NWC playoff berth.
