SAAC coin drive on weekend docket
Linfield's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee encourages fans attending home athletic events February 17-18 to contribute to its annual fundraiser for the Parker Archie Moore Memorial Fund. Special activities are in place to help collect spare change and other donations at home baseball and basketball contests through the weekend.

Friday night and Saturday afternoon, student-athletes will be on hand to collect funds at the Linfield baseball NWC-opening series against Willamette. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, and a doubleheader is scheduled for noon Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, at the Wildcat basketball games versus Willamette, SAAC will accept donations at a table in the lobby or at the concession stand. The group will also collect funds during both halftime intermissions, including a half-court shootout during the men's game. Fans who contribute $1 earn the opportunity to shoot a half-court shot and win free pizza.

Game times for Saturday's matchup against George Fox are slated for 4 and 6 p.m., respectively, for the women and men. Saturday afternoon is also Senior Day for departing Wildcats Annalise Beshears, Quincey Gibson, Riley Graham, Dani Krier, Austin Daniels, Kyle Maloof and Mason Rodby.

Linfield men's tennis also hosts home matches at 1 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

This weekend's coin drive is part of the NWC's annual fundraising contest, in which each member institution organizes a coin drive to benefit a charity of its choosing. The school that raises the most money in 48 hours is declared the winner and receives both a banner and bragging rights.

Over the past two years, SAAC has raised more than $1,500 for the scholarship fund. Moore, a 20-year-old sophomore, was a business management major and a linebacker for the Linfield football team who was killed in November 2015.
