Complete All-District Teams
Linfield College placed two softball players – senior pitcher Shelby VandeBergh (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) and junior designated player Lisa Yamamoto (Jr., Carson City, Nev.) – on the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 8 Softball Team.

VandeBergh was a repeat selection on the Capital One Division III Academic All-District Team while Yamamoto received her first scholastic recognition.

The Academic All-District teams are nominated and selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

VandeBergh, a finance and mass communication major, maintains a 3.87 grade point average. A right-handed starter, VandeBergh posted a 1.56 earned run average in 19 appearances. She put together an 11-3 win-loss record while earning second team all-Northwest Conference recognition. In 90 innings of action, she pitched five complete games, including two shutouts with 66 strikeouts against just 18 walks.

Yamamoto carries a 3.73 GPA in biology. The Carson City, Nev., native started 36 games, hitting .330 with nine doubles, two triples, three home runs and 24 runs batted in. She also drew 15 walks while earning second team all-NWC honors at utility. Yamamoto registered one of the team's better fielding percentages at .968, committing just three errors in 95 defensive opportunities.

Division III's District 8 spans seven western states. First team honorees automatically advance to consideration for the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Together, the two Wildcats were regular contributors toward Linfield's 11th consecutive Northwest Conference championship and NWC Tournament title. Linfield (34-7) is bound for the NCAA Division III regional playoffs starting May 8. The Wildcats will learn their playoff destination and opponent Monday at 7 a.m. via a live selection show on NCAA.com.
