Haddeland nabs NWC honors for a third time Team of the Week
Capping off the Northwest Conference season with a dominating performance on the mound, Chris Haddeland has received NWC Student-Athlete of the Week (Pitcher) and Team of the Week honors, as announced Monday and Tuesday by the respective organizations.
Haddeland bounced back from his first loss in more than a year with a vengeance, hurling a two-hit complete-game shutout in top-ranked Linfield's 2-0 victory over Lewis & Clark. He rang up six strikeouts against zero walks, lowering his season ERA to 1.09 while registering his third shutout and fifth complete game of the year.
Among Northwest Conference leaders, the junior right-hander ranks first in earned run average, complete games and shutouts, second in wins (9-1 record) and sixth in strikeouts (69). This marks the second time this season Haddeland has been honored by the NWC and in the same week.
For his career, Haddeland has totaled 25 victories, against just four losses, while registering five shutouts in 13 complete games. He was named the national, regional and conference pitcher of the year in 2013 while leading the Wildcats to the NCAA Division III championship.
Posting a 22-2 record, Linfield captured its second consecutive league title and automatic berth in the NCAA playoffs. The Wildcats' record stands at 32-4 overall, including a 29-4 mark against D3 opponents.
AHEAD: Linfield and George Fox face off in a nonconference battle Friday at Roy Helser Field beginning at 5 p.m.
