A strong Pacific weather system, featuring a series of rain-making storms, is making its impact felt on the Linfield sports calendar.
In consideration of the weather forecast, Linfield's scheduled Northwest Conference baseball and softball games on Sunday, March 9, have been shifted ahead two days to Friday to avoid an approaching storm.
The baseball team was scheduled for a three-game series Saturday and Sunday. Sunday's single contest shifts to Friday afternoon starting at 4 p.m. The time for Saturday's doubleheader moves back one hour to noon from 11 a.m.
Likewise, the softball team's Sunday doubleheader with NWC rival Pacific Lutheran has been moved to Friday afternoon, also starting at 4 o'clock. Saturday's doubleheader with Puget Sound remains unchanged.
A brief reprieve is forecast for Friday and Saturday, offering a break from the heavy rain that buffeted the Portland-McMinnville area earlier in the week. Another storm is approaching and expected to arrive on Sunday, bringing with it more measurable rainfall.
Live broadcasts Friday are expected to begin at approximately 3:55 p.m.
