SPOKANE, Wash. – Two teams at opposite ends of the Northwest Conference men's basketball spectrum met Friday night inside the Whitworth Fieldhouse. The outcome – a 91-59 Whitworth romp over the rebuilding Linfield Wildcats – went pretty much according to script.

Defending NWC champion Whitworth (17-4, 11-1 NWC), ranked 16th in the most recent Top 25 poll, had its way with Linfield, scoring the game's first basket 24 seconds into the contest and never trailing.

Wildcats swingman Vinnie Toor (Sr., Fremont, Calif.) came off the bench to lead Linfield in scoring, notching 10 points. And on a night when the Wildcats went 6-for-21 from beyond the 3-point arc, Linfield's starting five combined for just seven baskets in 26 tries, producing a pedestrian 23 points.

Toor came off the bench for nine productive minutes, going 4-for-4 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers. Mason Rodby (So., Redmond, Ore.), Cory Hendryx and Nick Cantonwine each added seven points. Rodby grabbed eight rebounds in his second start of the season.

Linfield was forced to settle for jump shots most of the night, recording just four assists for its 19 buckets, compared with Whitworth's efficient 32-to-15 points-to-assists ratio.

In further contrast, Whitworth saw five players tally at least 10 points. Fifteen of the Pirates' 16 players who saw action accounted for at least one point.

The Pirates enjoyed a 38-24 advantage on the backboards, including a 10-5 difference on the offensive glass. The Wildcats were plagued with 19 turnovers while the Pirates suffered just 10 giveaways.

Linfield (3-18, 1-10 NWC) dropped its third straight contest. Whitworth won for the eighth straight time.

NEXT: Linfield heads to Walla Walla for a Saturday night matchup with the Whitman Missionaries. The game, part of a women's/men's doubleheader, tips off at 6 p.m. Live play-by-play internet coverage starts at approximately 5:50 p.m.
