Linfield in the Playoffs

Northwest Conference rivals Linfield and Pacific Lutheran have been rematched in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. The Wildcats host the Lutes on Saturday, Nov. 17, at noon at Maxwell Field. Ranked third in the d3football.com poll and fourth in the American Football Coaches Association poll, Linfield (9-0) qualified for the NCAA Division III playoffs for the fourth straight season. Pacific Lutheran, ranked 20th by d3football.com, is making its first NCAA playoff appearance since 2001.

Linfield, one of four top-seeded teams, earned its 36th Northwest Conference championship Saturday with a 51-17 rout of Pacific. PLU, whose only defeats in 2012 came against nationally ranked powers Linfield and Cal Lutheran, placed second in the NWC with a 5-1 record.

The Wildcats are competing in the NCAA playoffs for the ninth time since 2000. Including NAIA playoffs, the ‘Cats are appearing in the postseason for the 24th time in program history.

Riding a 26-game regular-season winning streak dating to the 2010 season, Linfield completed an unbeaten regular season for the eighth time since 2000 and 19th time in its history.

Linfield and PLU have met five times previously in the postseason with the Lutes winning three times. The two teams most recently squared off in the playoffs in 1992 at McMinnville as members of the NAIA.

Other pairings on Linfield’s corner of the bracket include Cal Lutheran hosting North Central (Ill.), Bethel (Minn.) at Concordia-Chicago, and St. Scholastica at Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

TICKETS
•A limited number of covered reserved tickets go on sale to the general public Tuesday starting at 1 p.m. in the athletic department offices, located at Lever Street and Linfield Avenue.

•Reserved tickets for faculty, staff, students and retirees are available for sale Tuesday between 8 a.m. and noon.

•Phone orders are accepted, however, those purchasing tickets in person will be given priority. After 1 p.m. Tuesday, Linfield fans are advised to call 503-883-2421 to reserve tickets. Pacific Lutheran fans are asked to call 503-883-2254 or 503-883-2229 to reserve tickets.

•When placing a ticket order over the phone, be prepared to leave a message with your credit card information.

•All covered reserved seats are $15, uncovered reserved tickets are $12 and adult general admission is $10.

•General admission for students is priced at $6 with a current college or high school ID card and sold day of the game only. Children under 3 are admitted free.

•No complimentary tickets will be issued and Northwest Conference passes will not be honored.

•Linfield season ticket holders have first access to their regular seats in the covered grandstand, however, any unclaimed seats will be released to the general public on Thursday. Season tickets holders may pick up their tickets starting Wednesday at 1 p.m. until Friday at 3 p.m.

•The game will be broadcast live on Portland radio station TrueTalk 800 KPDQ-AM as well as McMinnville station KLYC (1260 AM).

•Internet users can hear the game simulcast at www.linfield.edu/sports. Click on "Listen Live."
