Final Results

ALOHA, Ore. – Hannah Christianson earned her first collegiate tournament win to spur Linfield to its first women’s golf victory of the spring season at the Pacific Invitational. The two-day tournament wrapped up Sunday afternoon at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club.

Christianson, who sat four strokes back after the first 18 holes, carded a round-low 83 to slide past Pacific’s Emily Thorud, finishing with a two-day total of 87-83=170. Thorud was four strokes behind (83-91=174).

With four of five golfers improving their first-round scores, Linfield significantly extended its lead over the four-team field. After shooting their way to a comfortable 16-stroke advantage after Day 1, the ‘Cats pushed the spread to 59 strokes on Day 2, recording a cumulative score of 367-354=721.

Individually, every Wildcat finished in the top 10. Alexandria Smith placed fifth, carding a total of 91-86=177. Teammate Sophie Corr was one position back with a 90-95=185.

Brinn Hovde shaved 11 strokes off her first-round outing and posted Linfield’s third-lowest score on Day 2 to finish eighth overall (101-90=191).

Also improving upon her first-day score was Lydia Smith, who carded a 95 over the final 18 holes, four strokes fewer than her Saturday total. She finished tied for ninth place with a cumulative score of 99-95=194.

The final team standings did not change from Saturday to Sunday, as Pacific Lutheran finished second (383-400=783), host Pacific was third (413-410=823) and Puget Sound placed fourth (480-496=976). The lone representative from Lewis & Clark, Rebecca Langer, finished in a two-way tie for third place.

NEXT: The ‘Cats have two weeks to prepare for the NWC Spring Classic, the second of three “major” tournaments that decide the conference champion and automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. Linfield currently sits in fourth place.
