'Cats enjoy 16-stroke lead after Day 1
First-Day Results

ALOHA, Ore. – Through the wind and the rain, the Linfield women's golf team swung its way to a big lead in Saturday’s first round of the Pacific Invitational at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club.

The Wildcats carded a cumulative score of 367 to top the four-team field by 16 strokes. Second-place Pacific Lutheran scored a 383 over the first 18 holes.

Hannah Christianson posted Linfield’s lowest score of the afternoon with a 15-over-par 87. She sits in second place overall, trailing Pacific’s Emily Thorud by four strokes.

Also placing in the top 10 individually on Day 1 were Sophie Corr and Alexandria Smith. Corr carded an 18-over-par 90, good for fourth place, while Smith tallied 91 strokes for the course.

Lydia Smith rounded out Linfield’s scoring with a 27-over-par 99. Teammate Brinn Hovde sits one place back, 12th, with a one-day total of 101 strokes.

After Linfield and Pacific Lutheran, the remaining team scores included Pacific (413) and Puget Sound (480). One individual golfer represented Lewis & Clark.

NEXT: The Wildcats look to maintain or extend their lead on the second and final day of the tournament, which tees off at 9 a.m. Sunday at The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club.
