Final Results

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The Linfield women’s golf club battled tough competition and the elements to finish third of seven teams at the PLU Invitational hosted by the Oakbrook Golf and Country Club. The two-day tournament ended early Sunday afternoon when a hailstorm halted play after nine holes.

Hannah Christianson was Linfield’s top finisher, taking 14th overall. After carding a 91 over the first 18 holes, she redeemed herself with a Sunday low round of 38 (tied with four other players) for a two-day total of 21-over-par 129.

After carding identical scores on Day 1, Alexandria Smith and Brinn Hovde finished 16th and 17th, respectively, after action concluded on the second day. Smith carded an 87-45=132 and Hovde was one stroke back with an 87-46=133.

Sophie Corr tied for 18th place with a 93-42=135 and Lydia Smith rounded out the team scoring with a two-day total of 92-44=136, good for 21st.

Kelsey Morrison of George Fox came from behind to claim medalist honors with a 10-over-par 80-38=118. She trailed Whitman’s Tate Head by three strokes after the first round, but Head carded a 42 on Day 1 to wind up in second place, one stroke back.

As a team, the Bruins placed all four of their golfers in the top 10 to win the tournament with a cumulative score of 329-162=491. The defending Northwest Conference champions edged Whitman in the team standings by two strokes (328-165=493).

After George Fox, Whitman and Linfield, the final team scores were, in order: Whitworth (356-173=529), Pacific Lutheran (372-188=560), Pacific (386-189=575) and Puget Sound (253-218=671).

COMING UP: The Wildcats are on the road again next weekend, this time in Aloha, Ore., for the Pacific Invitational. The two-day tournament takes place Saturday and Sunday.
