McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield’s Zach Brandon (Sr., Cottage Grove, Ore.) has been named Northwest Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his part in helping the third-ranked ‘Cats sweep Pacific Lutheran on the last weekend of league play. The honor was announced Tuesday by the conference’s sports information directors.

On Saturday, Brandon pitched eight scoreless innings in Linfield’s 3-0 win over PLU in the second contest of the three-game series. He gave up just five hits (all singles) and two walks. The freshman also struck out three and held the Lutes to a .185 batting average.

On the season, Brandon boasts a 1.64 ERA and has given up 26 hits leading to six earned runs. He has tallied 17 strikeouts over 33 innings, and has a perfect 4-0 record, plus two saves, in eight total appearances on the mound.

He becomes the fifth Linfield player to receive the weekly honor this season, but the first pitcher.
