Lepp tabbed as national player of the week

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Linfield’s Emilee Lepp was recently recognized for her record-breaking season by being named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Co-National Player of the Week for games played April 12-19.

Lepp broke the NCAA Division III single-season home run record with a three-run blast in a win over Pacific. Since that game, she has run her season total to 27, three better than the previous record set by Mandy Carnes of Muskingum in 2002.

On the year, the catcher is averaging a .427 batting average, team-high 1.152 slugging percentage and .538 on-base percentage. In addition to her home runs and slugging percentage, she also leads the team in total bases (167), RBI (82), hits (72) and runs scored (62). She ranks second in the Northwest Conference in batting average and first in home runs, total bases, RBI, hits and runs scored.

Lepp, a 2010 second team All-American, shared the national award with pitcher Ashlee Simpson of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The top-ranked Wildcats wrapped up their eight consecutive regular season championship and won the inaugural conference softball tournament. By doing so, Linfield received an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Date, location and opponent are to be announced on or around Sunday, May 8.
