Taylor surges to tournament medal
Final Results

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Freshman A.J. Taylor improved his first-round score by six strokes on the way to earning medalist honors Monday at the three-team Pacific Lutheran Invitational at Oakbrook Golf & Country Club.

Carding a low-round 73 on Monday, Taylor finished the two-day event with a 36-hole total of 152 to edge teammate Alex Fitch by one stroke. Linfield (619) pulled away from Northwest Conference rivals PLU (646) and Puget Sound (653) to capture the team title.

Fitch shot 76 on Monday, finishing in a tie with PLU’s Andrew Kunimoto for second place. Both had identical rounds of 77-76 to end with overall scores of 153.

Josh Kay and Tommy Schmitz also played their part in helping Linfield get the victory as both had second-round scores of 78. Kay was fourth overall at 155 while Schmitz shared eight place at 164 with UPS’s Derek Wilson.

UP NEXT: Linfield visits Thousand Oaks, Calif., March 28-29 to compete at the prestigious Cal Lutheran Invitational at La Purisima Golf Course.
