McMINNVILLE, Ore. - After tallying three hits in a 10-4 win, Robert Vaughn capped off a sensational day with seven shutout innings in the nightcap, leading No. 9 Linfield to a 2-0 win and a doubleheader sweep of Pacific Saturday afternoon at Roy Helser Field.

After being shutout against Oregon Tech a weekend ago, the Linfield (8-3, 2-0 NWC) offense got back on track with a 14-hit performance.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the top of the second inning, the Wildcats got busy in the bottom half of the frame. Cole Bixenman reached base on an error to start the inning, before Vaughn singled to center field. After a sacrifice bunt moved the two runners up, Kevin Allan and Danny Urness put the ‘Cats up 2-1 on RBI singles.
Linfield added a third run in the bottom of the second, taking a 3-1 advantage into the third inning. In the bottom of the fourth, the Wildcats pushed the lead out to 4-1 on an RBI single from Dustin Smith.
Pacific (7-5, 3-2 NWC) answered back in the top of the fifth, with three runs on three hits, while also capitalizing on a Linfield error. Ryan Larson, who gave up just two earned runs over seven innings of work, held the Boxers scoreless over the ensuing two innings.
The Linfield offense did the rest, scoring six runs over the next three innings.
Bixenman and Vaughn put the ‘Cats back on top with back-to-back RBI doubles in the bottom of the fifth. Bixenman , who was 2-for-5, drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to build the lead to 7-4.
Zach Manley (Sr., Coburg, Ore.) and Casey Cameron closed out the game with one solid inning apiece.

The Wildcats got on the Boxers early in the nightcap, scoring their only two runs of the game in the second inning.
After Allan laced a one-out double into center field, Nate McClellan (Sr., Shoreline, Wash.) reached first base on a dropped third strike. With two runners on, Kevin Coleman singled through the left side, scoring Allan and advancing McClellan to second.
Urness followed Coleman with a one-out walk, loading the bases for Smith. Smith came through, driving in McClellan on an RBI single.
The Boxers never threatened the Wildcats, as Vaughn held Pacific to just three hits. Evan Hilberg pitched the final two innings to cap off the shutout.
