Biography

Joel Smith joins the Linfield coaching staff and will assist with the lacrosse program as the coordinator of the defense.

The father of Linfield head coach Sammy Smith, Joel Smith brings seven years of lacrosse coaching experience to his new position.

He founded the Liberty High School program, leading the Falcons for five seasons. While at Liberty, the Falcons won five Metro League championships and reached the state playoffs all five seasons. He later assisted at Tigard High School for one year and most recently was an assistant at Westview High School.

An electrician by trade, the elder Smith works at AGC Electronics in Hillsboro. He and his wife, Patty, also have a grown son, Eric.
