Greg Mitchell is in his eighth year assisting with the Linfield track and field program. He brings a wealth of competitive experience as a four-year letterwinner with the Wildcats in both cross country and track and field. He works directly with the distance runners and serves as associate head coach of the Linfield cross country program in the fall.
Prior to joining the Linfield staff, he spent four years coaching cross country and track at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. Both his boys and girls cross country squads enjoyed success, with the boys team winning consecutive Class 5A regional championships in 2004 and 2005. Before becoming a head coach, Mitchell spent time as an assistant at Gresham and McMinnville high schools.
His Linfield career included two conference crowns and two runner-up finishes in the 10,000 meters, as well as two second-place conference finishes in cross country. He competed in three cross country and two track and field national championship meets.
Mitchell earned his bachelor's degree in history at Linfield in 1995. He and his wife, Stephanie, live in McMinnville.
