Community Engagement & Service at Linfield College promotes student learning, development, and civic responsibility through co-curricular and curricular service opportunities.

In fulfillment of the mission of Linfield College, “Connecting Learning, Life, and Community,” we aim to:

  • Connect Linfield students as members of the campus, community, and global society
  • Bridge students’ theoretical and practical knowledge through experiential learning opportunities
  • Foster critical thinking, problem solving, and multicultural competencies, and
  • Empower students to become engaged citizens and agents of social and environmental change

Our office supports students on their journey toward civic engagement by maintaining partnerships with over 100 community-based organizations; offering community service consultation to individual students, groups, and faculty; and sponsoring numerous Community Service programs and events.

The Community Engagement & Service Summer Work-Study employee’s primary responsibility will be preparing for the First CLAS pre-orientation program under the direction of the CES Director. This person also provides administrative support to the office and performs other duties as assigned. 

Compensation: Minimum Wage, free housing
Time Commitment: 20 hours/week, Early June-Late August (flexible)

Student Group Outstanding Service Award Application Time!

The Student Group Outstanding Service Award was established to recognize and honor a student group that has demonstrated a meaningful commitment to service demonstrated by:

  • Year long commitment - ongoing projects or multiple projects throughout the year
  • Collaboration with multiple community partners
  • Projects or programs with measurable impacts beyond campus

All student groups are encouraged to apply including residence halls, honor societies, athletic teams, student clubs, and Greek life organizations that have engaged in activities including but not limited to: volunteering, community service, community outreach or engagement, philanthropic endeavors (fundraising drives, donation drives, charitable contributions), and projects that promote social or environmental change. 

Award: Certificate and recognition at the annual awards convocation. A $50 contribution to your non-profit of choice will be make in the name of your student group or organization.

Now Hiring 2016 First CLAS Leadership Team


This week-long program is designed for incoming first-year students to help them serve with local non-profits throughout the week, learn about important campus and community resources, gain valuable leadership skills, and discover what McMinnville and Linfield have to offer. Students in their second year and above can serve as 
leaders during this week. Resume, cover letter, and supplemental questions are due April 29th, please send them in an email to CES Director Joni Tonn. Additional information located here.

May 16, 2016 @ 6:30 pm Riley 301 Volunteer Appreciation Ice Cream Sundae Bar! If you have volunteered or done community service during the last academic year let the Change Corps team say "Thank You!" with ice cream! Bring your friends and come celebrate volunteerism and the end of the year!
