General Safety for Students
PLEASE BE AWARE!

If you observe someone who you do not believe belongs here, or if you witness a crime, please call the Linfield Campus Safety, Linfield extension SAFE (7233). You will be asked for a description of the person and the direction the person is headed. The more specific the information you can provide us, the better our chances of contacting them. We greatly appreciate your assistance.
The McMinnville Police Department and the Linfield College Safety Department have a close working relationship and have worked together in the recent past on several items of mutual interest. Any incident requiring their assistance is responded to very rapidly by the McMinnville Police.
SAFETY IN CAMPUS HOUSING
With nearly 1,300 students living in residence halls and housing on campus, Linfield College continually strives to develop student sensitivity to security issues. General safety instructions include the following:
- Do not leave windows open,
- Keep room doors locked at all times
- Do not loan keys, or ID card
- Do not prop doors open
LCS is continually alerted to a variety of security issues. We will inform the College Community of the issues as they arise.
SECURE CAMPUS FACILITIES
LCS maintains the security of College buildings. The Safety Officers lock and unlock all academic and administrative buildings during business, special event and class hours. Access after hours is either granted for authorized users or on a predetermined scheduled event basis.
REPORTING TO LCS
Students, faculty, and staff members are encouraged to call LCS to report any security concern.
Our Safety Officers are trained to respond quickly and professionally to most every routine and emergency type situation. All officers are certified by the State of Oregon.
The McMinnville Police Department emergency number, from campus, is 9-911.
SAFETY TIPS
- Be alert to your surroundings.
- LCS may be called at any time to provide escort service on the campus.
- Always carry your student identification card.
- If possible, never walk or jog alone after dark. If you walk at night, always walk in well-lit areas free from shrubs and bushes.
- Walk at a brisk pace and be aware of anyone walking behind you.
- Be aware of the emergency call boxes and blue light phones that are on campus. Do not hesitate to use them when needed. A Safety Officer will respond.
- If leaving campus when it's dark, call your roommate and inform her or him when to expect you home.
- If you're the victim of any incident or crime, call the LCS Officeor the McMinnville Police Department immediately.
If a crime occurs on campus, we want the campus community to be informed. It is our desire to keep people aware so they can take precautions and avoid becoming victims. If you have any information or questions, call us.
