Linfield's Office of Residence Life: Frequently Asked Questions

New Student Questions

What if I decide to enroll at Linfield College?
If Linfield is your college of choice, you will need to submit the $400 matriculation fee on or before January 15 to the Office of Admission. Housing assignments are made in the same order in which the matriculation fees are received.
When will I find out where I am living?
The Office of Admission and the Office of Residence Life will begin making housing assignments in mid-summer. You will be notified shortly thereafter.
When am I notified of my roommate(s)?
Once housing assignments are made, you will receive information about your hall placement and roommate(s). You can expect this notification in mid-summer. Although the residences halls house both returning and new students, new freshman students will be roomed with other new freshman students.
Can I live with someone I already know?
You may live with someone you already know, however, consider living with someone new. Meeting new people in a residence hall is an important component to the Linfield experience. If you choose to room with a friend, you must both request each other on your Housing Preference Form by January 15.
Do I need to buy extra long sheets?
No, the mattress provided is a standard size twin. Each room also comes with closet space, dresser, desk and desk chair for each student.
How does the meal plan work?
New students will automatically be assigned the Standard meal plan for the first semester. This includes 7 all-you-care-to-eat meals and $570 Declining Balance Dollars (DCB). The 7 all-you-care-to-eat meals are Monday-Friday dinner and Saturday-Sunday brunch. Your meal plan will be connected to your Linfeld ID card and will be used in the same way as a debit card.
