Room Changes
17 Residence Halls and 7 apartment groups make up Linfield housing. They provide a variety of options for different living styles. Housing is typically at full capacity when the year starts, and moves cannot occur in the first two weeks of a semester.
After the first two weeks, there may be an opening somewhere on campus for new students or students wishing to move. If you want to move for reasons involving a roommate conflict, we ask you first talk with your roommate and follow our procedure for any housing change.
Roommate Challenges
If for some reason, you are having challenges with your roommate situation, we hope you will first try and resolve any issues you have with the roommate. If you are unable to do so, please adhere to the following procedure. Your Resident Advisor (RA) is trained and available to assist with any roommate problems, and you will be encouraged to work through any conflicts. In the event that a move is necessary, the following steps must be followed. There is a moratorium on any room changes during certain times of the semester.
Procedure for changing rooms:
- Discuss your concerns with your RA, who can help mediate any problems between you and your current roommate(s).
- If concerns continue to exist, please contact the AD responsible for your housing area: Delane Hein (Elkinton, Hewitt, Larsell, Miller, Terrell) Josh Merrick (Anderson, Frerichs, Grover, Latourette, Memorial, Newby, Pioneer, Potter, Whitman) Joni Claypool (Campbell, Jane Failing, Mahaffey) Rachel Rickinger (All Suburbs). The ADs can help with further mediation and resolution of your challenges.
- After working with your Area Director it may be determined that a move or change of rooms is the best option.
- You will be asked to meet with Joni Claypool, who will help the you determine a location to move. All room changes must be approved by Joni in consultation with your AD.
- After you receive approval, you will receive a room change form and will then need to obtain all the necessary signatures.
- Complete all the steps and turn in your keys to your old room to the AD Office in Mahaffey Hall by your designated moving date..
Failure to follow the proper room change procedure may result in a $50 fine and/or cancellation of any room change
