Graduating Seniors

About a month prior to the annual spring commencement ceremony, the Office of Institutional Research conducts the graduating senior survey.  Between 2012-2013 and 2014-2015,  52% of graduates completed the survey.   Of those that responded to the survey, 6% have already been accepted by a graduate program (across all Linfield programs  including the McMinnville Campus, the Portland Campus/School of Nursing, and the Online and Continuing Education Program.  

Degree Choices

  • 39% choose master's degrees in arts & sciences (MA, MS, MFA, MMusic, MLitt, etc; programs in architecture, art, bioinformatics, biostatistics, English, economics, international business, kinesiology, management, music, speech, translation, zoology, etc.
  • 14% choose professional degrees in medicine or other health-related areas (DC, DMD, DNAP,DVM,MD,ND,DPT); programs in dentistry, medicine (allopathic and osteopathic), naturopathic medicine, physical therapy, nurse anesthetist, veterinary medicine
  • 12% choose a master's degrees in education or teaching (MAT, MEd, etc.); programs in physical education, special education, English as a second language, etc.
  • 8% choose other master's degrees (MAcct, MLIS, MPH, etc.); programs in accounting, archive management, management, library and information science, occupational therapy, physician assistant, public health, etc.
  • 8% choose master's degrees in business administration (MBA)
  • 8% choose doctorates (PhDs); programs in chemistry, economics, math, molecular biology, etc.
  • 5% choose master's degrees in nursing (MSN, MN, etc.); programs in healthcare management, nursing education, mental health, etc. (nurse practitioner reported separately below)
  • 3% choose law degrees (JD)
  • 3% choose nurse practitioner degrees (MSN-FNP)

Five Years After Graduation

According to the National Student Clearinghouse (as of January 2015), about 92 Linfield graduates who completed their bachelor's degree in 2009-2010 have completed another degree, about 13% of the class across all Linfield programs (the McMinnville Campus, the Portland Campus/School of Nursing, and the Online and Continuing Education program).  The Clearinghouse does not have information from post-secondary programs in other countries, so the information below is US schools only.

Degrees Completed
