2010 January & Spring REGISTRATION
November 9-13

ALL REGISTRATION FORMS

CHECK to make sure your advisor has approved you for registration. Go to “Approved for Registration?” on Web Advisor.

PRINT YOUR SCHEDULE after you register. SAVE YOUR PRINTOUT as your confirmation. If some or all classes do not print on your schedule, they are not registered.

NEED HELP?
November 9-13--go to the Registrar’s Office, Melrose 012, 9:00am to 3:30pm
Staff will be available Wednesday, Nov. 11th only, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Registrar’s Office.

  • Each day during the hours between 4:00pm & 7:00pm, please limit your time on Web Advisor to your registration time.
  • You can register any time after your approved time block begins.
    There is no reason to miss class to register!

Course Schedules available:

  • Access the Registrar’s Office web page (http://www.linfield.edu/registrars/). Then, click on either January 2010 or Spring 2010 SCHEDULED COURSE OFFERINGS.
  • Also, available on Web Advisor by clicking on “Search For Classes.”
  • Course sections numbered 01, 02, 03, etc. are McMinnville Campus classes.

Other sections not applicable:

  • Course sections beginning with an “A” are DCE classes.
  • Course sections beginning with a “P” are for Portland Campus.

Preparations:

  • Student account balance must be paid.
  • Clear any holds that may be on your record:
    • Confirmed your emergency information.
    • Need final high school transcript sent to the Registrar’s Office.
    • Declare major if 45 cumulative credits or more (see Academic Advising).
    • Complete math proficiency before 60 cumulative credits.
    • Submit approved “Higher Than Normal Load” petition if required. (see below)
    • Declare privacy preferences by filing a FERPA form (Registrar’s Office).

Advising:

  • To change major, minor or degree type, go to Academic Advising,Walker 104. Any change should be processed before proceeding.
    (If you have already turned in your “Intent to Graduate” form, come to the Registrar’s Office to make degree, major or minor changes, not Academic Advising).
  • Print program evaluation and transcript from Web Advisor.
  • Meet with academic advisor to plan course schedule.
  • Set up your “preferred sections” as soon as you meet with your advisor-
    (see Online Pre-registration Instructions below).
  • Your advisor will clear you for online registration by any of the following:
    • using the advisor’s Web Advisor page.
    • or sending a list of cleared students to Joyce Savage, jsavage@linfield.edu
    • or by signing add/drop or registration form (please bring document to the Registrar’s Office, Melrose 012, for entry into Web Advisor).

Registering for 17 (or more) credits and your GPA is less than 3.5?
Obtain your advisor’s and Dean McGillin’s consent/signature on a “Higher Than Normal Load” petition. Return to the Registrar’s Office by November 6th.

ONLINE PRE-REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS: (To set up preferred sections)

Before assigned registration time:

  • Select alternative courses in case first choices are full.
  • Log in to Web Advisor→to Students Menu→to Register for Sections→ to Express Registration→set up preferred sections (like filling your
    shopping cart at your favorite online retailer).
  • To reduce computer entry: fill in the course synonym (the 4 digit number in the far left column on the course schedule when using the Registrar’s web page) and select the term from the pull down menu on the far right . If you are searching for sections on Web Advisor, the synonym is the 4 digit number located just under the course name. You may receive an error message for some of the synonym numbers starting with zero. If you do, take the synonym number out and fill in
    the other information requested.
  • Click on SUBMIT to save your schedule for your actual registration time.
  • Confirm your registration time. Register during or after your assigned time.

Please Remember:
Courses requiring INSTRUCTOR’S CONSENT will not be available for online registration. Submit a registration form or an add/drop form to the Registrar’s Office (Melrose 012) weekdays from 9:00am to 3:30pm or Wednesday, the 11th of November from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

If you do not have a needed PREREQUISITE for a course, you must obtain the instructor’s signature to add the class with an add/drop slip and submit as above.

Some courses are set up with co-requisites (like science courses with labs). You should register for the lab first, then you will be able to
register for the actual course.

Please keep in mind that changes may happen to the course schedule. Classes may be cancelled, new classes added, times and days may change,Caps may change or course fees may be added.

ONLINE REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Enter Web Advisor→Students Menu→Register for Sections→Register for Previously Selected Sections.
  • From the pull down menu under ACTION on the left, select your action. You may mark each class you wish as “Register” and click submit at the bottom of the page. You may remove courses from your list by marking “remove” and submit.
  • After submitting, please notice the messages that indicate which classes actually registered and which did not and the reason.
  • Need to add sections to your Preferred List? Return to Express Registration and continue as above.
  • When you have finished registering, confirm your registration by going to “My Class Schedule” and PRINT a copy (keep this printout as your receipt). If your schedule is not visible, you are not registered. Come to the Registrar’s
    Office for assistance.
  • Please log out of Web Advisor when finished.
