Description: Examination of major writers, works, and paradigms in the discipline of rhetoric from the Greeks to postmodernists. Use of rhetorical perspectives to focus on issues such as societal values and ethics, the nature of knowledge, and the nature of being and reality. Theory, methods, and practice of rhetorical criticism of multiple types of rhetorical texts. Prerequisite: junior or senior standing, or consent of instructor. Offered spring of even-numbered years. 4 credits (UQ, MWI)
