Description: General principles of drug effects with attention to neural mechanisms of drug action, addiction, tolerance, and drug classification. Drug use in the treatment of psychopathologies, and drug effects on learning, cognitive, and social processes. Laboratory exposure to experimental research techniques in behavioral pharmacology and descriptive research techniques in psychopharmacology. Requires work with live animals (rats and/or mice). $35 lab fee. Prerequisite: 252 and any one of the following: 101, 281, 282, 283, 284, 286, 287. Typically offered fall of odd-numbered years and spring of even-numbered years. 4 credits.
