Description: General principles of drug effects with attentionto neural mechanisms of drug action, addiction,tolerance, and drug classification. Drug use inthe treatment of psychopathologies, and drugeffects on learning, cognitive, and socialprocesses. Laboratory exposure to experimentalresearch techniques in behavioral pharmacologyanddescriptive research techniques inpsychopharmacology. Requires work with liveanimals (rats and/or mice). $35 lab fee.Prerequisite: 250 and any one of thefollowing: 101, 281, 282, 283, 284, 286, 287.Typically offered fall of odd-numbered years andspring of even-numbered years.4 credits.
