3/4/2008 Faculty member to give classical guitar recital
McMINNVILLE – The Linfield College Music Department will present a faculty recital on Saturday, March 15, at 4 p.m. in the Delkin Recital Hall in the Vivian A. Bull Music Center at Linfield. Admission is free and open to the public.
Pamela Goldsmith, adjunct professor of music at Linfield, will perform on classical guitar. She will play selected works from the Classic, Romantic and Modern Romantic styles. Some of the composers include Fernando Sor, Francisco Tarrega, Agustin Barrios Margore and Heitor Villa-Lobos. The performance will open with a collection of “Six Lute Pieces of the Renaissance,” which was transcribed for the guitar by Oscar Chilesotti.
Goldsmith currently teaches private and group classes at Linfield and teaches private lessons at Pioneer Music Co. in Portland. She received a bachelor’s degree in classical guitar studies from the University of Maine in Orono and a master’s in classical guitar performance from Portland State University. In 1991, she placed first in the Downeast Classical Guitar Competition in Maine.
