4/30/2002 UPCOMING EVENTS AT LINFIELD COLLEGE

FRIDAY, MAY 3

BSU BARBECUE: The ninth annual Black Student Union Barbecue will be held Friday, May 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. near Memorial Fountain on the lawn between Dillin Hall and the athletics complex. In case of rain, the barbecue will be moved to the Fred Meyer Lounge in Riley Hall. Tickets are $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for Linfield students on the meal plan and $4 for children 12 and under. Advance tickets can be purchased beginning Monday, April 22, in Riley Hall and Dillin Hall. Tickets may also be reserved by contacting Barry Tucker, director of multicultural programs, at 503-883-2574.

MOMS' WEEKEND: The sixth annual Moms' Weekend will be held May 3-5 at Linfield College. A variety of events are planned, all sponsored by the Associated Students of Linfield College (ASLC). For more information, call 503-883-2435.

MONDAY, MAY 6

PHILOSOPHY LECTURES: William Leon McBride, the Arthur G. Hansen Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Purdue University, will present the 32nd annual Walter Powell-Linfield College Spring Philosophy Lectures, Monday and Tuesday, May 6 and 7. McBride will speak on "The Global Impact of U.S. Philosophy" Monday, May 6, and on "Sartre?s Move to Political Theory" Tuesday, May 7. Both lectures will be at 8 p.m. in Renshaw Gallery. BACCALAUREATE: The Linfield College Baccalaureate service will be held Saturday, June 1, at 6 p.m. in Ted Wilson Gymnasium. The Baccalaureate address will be given by The Rev. Desmond Hoffmeister, dean of community of life and director of the Center for Global Prophetic Witness for the American Baptist Seminary of the West. It is open to the public.
