Pianist Chris Engbretson of Bothell, Wash., will perform Saturday, May 19, at 8 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium, located in Melrose Hall at Linfield. A piano performance major, Engbretson recently received the Piano Award at the Oregon Music Teachers Association Scholarship Competition and was chosen as a winner in the Portland Monday Musical Club. He is an assistant conductor with the Concert Choir and a guest conductor with the Linfield Wind Symphony. Following graduation from Linfield, he plans to pursue a graduate degree in choral conducting.
Works by composer Casey Frantum of Baker City will be performed Sunday, May 20, at 4 p.m. also in Ice Auditorium. Frantum will be accompanied by a number of Linfield student musicians including the Linfield Jazz Band as he performs his own compositions.
