Performances by the Linfield Masterworks Chorale, Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will showcase choral music written by Latin American composers to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo weekend.
The Masterworks Chorale and the Concert Choir will open the show with a double choir piece by Mexican composer Juan de Padilla, which will be accompanied by organ and brass. The Masterworks Chorale will perform pieces by Michael Mendoza, Ernani Aguiar, Alberto Favero and Alberto Ginastera. Community members Mark Pederson and Janice Marsh will be featured singers, along with James Denman, Linfield adjunct professor, on the organ.
The Linfield Chamber Singers will then perform works by Ginastera, Carlos Gardel and Daniel Afonso.
The show will conclude with the Concert Choir performing arrangements by Marcos Leite and Guido Lopez-Gavilan. The choir will also perform a piece written and conducted by junior composition major Jim Welch and accompanied by freshman Heidi Vanden Bos on the piano.
