4/19/2007 Student art submissions to be displayed
McMINNVILLE - Selected entries from the annual Linfield College student juried art contest will be displayed in the Linfield Fine Art Gallery April 23 to May 5.
An opening reception will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 6 p.m. in the gallery, located in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center at Linfield. A first, second and third place winner will be announced at the reception.
The exhibit will showcase Linfield students' talents in a variety of mediums like sculpture, video and performance art, painting, ceramics and photography.
Generally, around 30 works are submitted and the best and most innovative are featured in the actual exhibit. This year's guest jurors are Jenene Nagy and Josh Smith, curators and directors of the Tilt Gallery in Portland.
The Linfield exhibit is free and open to the public. The Linfield Fine Arts Gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. It will also remain open Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Linfield College Moms' Weekend. To reach the gallery from 99W, turn east on Keck Drive at the McMinnville Market Center in south McMinnville. Turn right at the first street onto Library Court. The art gallery is located in the second building on the left, Building B. Parking is available on the street and in the lot west of Nicholson Library.
