3/19/2007 Linfield Review earns national recognition
McMINNVILLE - The Linfield Review took third place in the Best in Show contest at the Associated Collegiate Press national college newspaper convention in Portland March 8-11.
The Review's Feb. 16 edition placed after The Rice Thresher of Ricer University and the Bowdoin Orient of Bowdoin College in the four-year school, weekly tabloid size category. Contest entries were judged on the quality of reporting, writing, editing, design, photography and examples of special project reporting and editorial page leadership.
The Review staff is led by editor in chief Amber Nobe, a senior from Morrison, Colo., and managing editor Amanda Dale, a senior from Anchorage, Alaska. Assistant editor Jillian Beaudry, a junior from Bellevue, Wash., attended the three-day conference representing the Review.
ACP is the oldest and largest national membership organization for college student journalists. The Review editorial staff will attend the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association collegiate day on May 4 at Western Oregon University, where it will be entered in various award categories ranging from general excellence to best cartooning.
