The first discussion will be led by Barbara Seidman, interim dean of faculty, on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Linfield College Nicholson Library conference room. The second discussion, led by David Sumner, assistant professor of English, will be on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Third Street Books.
Kidder will discuss his book Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ted Wilson Gymnasium. His appearance is being held in conjunction with the inauguration of Thomas L. Hellie as Linfield's 19th president.
"Mountains Beyond Mountains" is the story of Dr. Paul Farmer, a major force in revolutionizing international health. It follows Farmer's quest to establish clinics and hospitals, his compassion for the poor, his inner circle of followers and his success in helping stem the tide of new HIV and tuberculosis infections in poorer areas.
MacReads is organized by librarians from Linfield College and the McMinnville Public library in addition to Linfield professors, Third Street Books and the Oregon Council for the Humanities. It is open to any person or group interested.
