4/27/2006 Wildstock set to rock Linfield campus
The eighth annual Wildstock, a music and crafts festival, will be held Saturday, May 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. near Riley Hall at Linfield College.
The event is sponsored by the Linfield Activities Board (LAB). This year?s performers include The Kitchen Syncopators, Ryanhood and Raining Jane.
Raining Jane, back by popular demand after last year?s festival, is an all-female group from Los Angeles, Calif., known for their eclectic folk-rock sound. Ryanhood, an acoustic guitar duo from Tucson, Ariz., will emcee the event. The five members of The Kitchen Syncopators mix West Coast and New Orleans influences to create a unique style of blues, ragtime and jazz.
In addition to the music, several student clubs will sell food and provide various forms of entertainment. Highlights include a gladiator joust, a candle-making station, a mechanical bull and a dunk tank featuring Linfield students and staff.
"It?s a great chance to get outside, listen to awesome live music, participate in a wide variety of activities and celebrate the end of the school year," said Teresa Zalewski, Associated Students of Linfield College vice president of programming.
LAB will raffle a guitar signed by the event?s performers, and all Linfield students with black and white bracelets celebrating this year?s Wildstock theme, ?More Cowbell!,? will be automatically entered. The bracelets are available at LAB events before Wildstock. Any proceeds from the raffle will go toward Doctors Without Borders, the organization sponsored by ASLC for the 2005-2006 academic year.
