An opening reception will be held Friday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the gallery, located in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center at Linfield.
The exhibit will showcase Linfield students talents in 2-D, 3-D, installation and performance art, including painting, ceramics and photography. Some entries, like one of painted vinyl records, try to break away from conventional art mediums.
"In general, there is a very funky, eclectic feel to this show," said Mary Doyle, senior studio art major. "It really showcases artistic talent with intellectual and social awareness of what art is and what it can accomplish."
Generally, around 50 works are submitted, and 25-30 are featured in the actual exhibit. At the reception, prizes will be awarded for first through fourth place, and the juror, a surprise guest from Portland, will speak about his or her decision.
The Linfield exhibit is free and open to the public. The Linfield Fine Art Gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To reach the gallery from 99W, turn east on Keck Drive at the McMinnville Market Center in south McMinnville. Turn right on Lever Street and right again on Ford Drive. The art gallery is located in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center, north of Nicholson Library. For more information, call 503-883-2804 or contact Cris Moss at firstname.lastname@example.org.
