Eleven advanced piano students, all music majors or minors, will perform American, German, French and Hungarian music by composers ranging from Ludwig van Beethoven to Aaron Copland.
Performers include freshmen Christine Bronson of Kenmore, Wash., Lindsay Gardner of Folsom, Calif., and Gijs Van der Poel of The Netherlands; sophomores Alison Shanahan of Bend and Lindsey Thordarson of Fort Collins, Colo.; juniors Malia Anderson of La Grande, Ethan Barske of Anchorage, Alaska, Chris Engbretson of Kenmore, Wash., Erica Jossi of Gales Creek and Brandon Madsen of Portland; and senior Seann Branchfield of Newport.
In addition to giving students a valuable performance experience, the annual concert is a "gift to the community," according to Jill Timmons, professor of music, who instructs the students.
"I want my students to have many performing experiences, but I also want them to understand that what we do first and foremost as musicians is service," she said. "They do it for all the best reasons: service to the composer, to the community and to education."
The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Linfield Music Department at 503-883-2275.
