9/21/2005 Large-scale photography featured in Linfield gallery

McMINNVILLE ? Life-size photographs by artists from opposite sides of the country will fill the Linfield College Fine Art Gallery during "The Photographic Narrative," an exhibit featuring large-scale photography.

Work by Alois Kronschlaeger of New York, N.Y., and Liz Haley of Portland will be featured in the show, which runs Sept. 30 through Oct. 28 at the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center at Linfield. A closing reception will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in the gallery.

Kronschlaeger and Haley use large-scale photography to create narratives that explore the human psyche. The color photos range from poster-size to six feet tall.

"It?s going to be a powerful show," said Cris Moss, Linfield gallery director.

Kronschlaeger, a native of Austria, received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. He will display three large photographs from his "wallpaper" series during the exhibition, which coincides with a solo show of his work in the prestigious Chelsea art district in New York. In addition to the United States, his work has been shown in Austria and Japan.

Haley?s work is primarily in the form of photographs and digital prints. Using the human figure as the central focus in her images, Haley creates open narratives that allow the viewer to fill in the blanks. Using themes of domestic and personal relationships, she explores the bright and dark side of the human psyche. She has exhibited extensively in both solo and group shows in Oregon and Washington, most recently at Navarre and The Jupiter Hotel, both in Portland.

The Linfield exhibit is free and open to the public. The Linfield Fine Art Gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To reach the gallery, from 99W in south McMinnville, turn east on Keck Drive at the McMinnville Market Center and turn right into the first parking lot. The art gallery is located to the west of the parking lot. For more information, call 503-883-2804.
