8/25/2005 UPCOMING EVENTS AT LINFIELD COLLEGE

TUESDAY, AUG. 30

EXHIBIT: An art exhibit featuring Linfield College faculty members will be on display Aug. 30 through Sept. 24 in the Fine Art Gallery of the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center. An opening reception will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Gallery. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

TUESDAY, AUG. 31

OPENING CONVOCATION: Peter Steinberger, professor of political science and dean of faculty at Reed College, will speak on "What’s Interesting" at opening convocation at Linfield College Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 4 p.m. in the Ted Wilson Gymnasium. It is open to the public.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 10

TAIZE SERVICE: A Taize service will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at 8 p.m. in Renshaw Hall at Linfield College. It is sponsored by the chaplain’s office and is open to the public. For more information, call 503-883-2259.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 13

READING: Poet Primus St. John will present a reading Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Nicholson Library at Linfield College. It is free, open to the public and sponsored by the Friends of Nicholson Library, Friends of McMinnville Public Library and the Linfield English Department. For more information, call 503-883-2517.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 14

LECTURE: David Sumner, assistant professor of English, will speak on "What We Hold Together: The Inquiry Seminar and the Foundation of a Liberal Education," in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield College as part of the Linfield faculty lecture series.
