5/10/2005 Chamber music to be performed at Linfield
McMINNVILLE - Six Linfield College instrumental groups will present a chamber music recital on Tuesday, May 17, at 4 p.m. in Melrose Auditorium.
More than 30 students, along with faculty and community members, will perform. The afternoon will include a performance by the Linfield Wind Symphony, under the direction of Joan Haaland Paddock, professor of music. Five groups are directed by adjunct professors including Cello/Koto Ensemble, led by Sherill Roberts, principal cellist with the Portland Opera Orchestra; Woodwind Quintet, directed by Steve Kravitz, instructor and Emmy-award winning musician; String Ensembles, led by Karen Vincent, long-time member of the Portland Baroque Orchestra; and Flute Choir, led by Denise Westby, principal flutist and co-founder of the Sinfonia Concertante Orchestra.
Music on the program includes "Metalwinds," a work composed by senior Seann Branchfield which will be performed by the Linfield Woodwind Quintet. Pieces by Desmond, Bach, Bloch, Monaco, McAlister and Toppinen will also be played.
