5/4/2005 Wildstock set to rock Linfield Campus
McMINNVILLE - The seventh annual Wildstock, a music and crafts festival, will be held Saturday, May 7, from 2 to 7 p.m. near Riley Hall at Linfield College.
The event is sponsored by the Linfield Activities Board (LAB). This year’s performers include Raining Jane, Jason Levasseur and Amadan. The winner of the Linfield Battle of the Bands, scheduled Wednesday, May 4, will also perform during the festival.
Raining Jane, the headliner of Wildstock, is an all female group from Los Angeles, Calif., known for their eclectic folk-rock sound. Singer and songwriter Jason Levasseur, the winner of the 2004 Campus Activities Magazine Readers’ Choice Award for Best Musical Performer, will emcee the event. Amandan is a Portland-based Irish punk band.
In addition to the music, several student clubs will sell food, provide various games and give away door prizes. A mechanical bull and a gladiator joust will be part of the entertainment.
LAB will raffle a guitar signed by all the event’s performers. The proceeds will go toward funding the construction of a primary school in Ghana, Africa, sponsored by the Associated Students of Linfield College.
"We encourage everyone to attend this event, including students, faculty, staff and McMinnville community members," said Teresa Zalewski, ASLC vice president of programming. "We don’t want anyone to miss the great entertainment that will be provided."
Last year’s turnout to the event was large and Zalewski is hoping to increase attendance this year. Wildstock is LAB’s biggest event of the year.
