The Yamhill County Obesity Forum will be held Wednesday, April 27, from 7-9 p.m. at the McMinnville Community Center.
The local forum will bring together community members, leaders and journalists to talk about current obesity and inactivity rates in Yamhill County. They will discuss issues surrounding food and nutrition, look at established policies and programs, and talk about county resources available to help tackle poor nutrition, physical inactivity and obesity. Changes for the future will also be addressed.
Obesity rates in the United States are at an all-time high, according to Janet Peterson, Linfield assistant professor of health and human performance. In Oregon, 57 percent of adults are overweight or obese and statistics for children are also on the rise.
Pre-registration is required for the forum. To register or for more information, contact Peterson at 503-883-2255 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
