3/2/2004 "Anti-marriage amendment" topic of lecture
McMINNVILLE ? R. Claire Snyder, assistant professor in the Department of Public and International Affairs at George Mason University, will speak on "The Anti-Marriage Amendment and the Attack on American Democracy" Tuesday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield College.
Snyder is the author of the book "Citizen-Soldiers and Manly Warriors: Military Service and Gender in the Civic Republican Tradition." She is the author of numerous articles including "The Citizen-Soldier Tradition and Gender Integration of the U.S. Military," in Armed Forces and Society and "Gendered Radicalism and Civil Society: What Can Democratic Theorists Learn From Southern White Ladies?" in Polity: The Journal of the Northeastern Political Science Association.
Snyder has a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. She has also taught at Illinois State University, Hunter College of the City University of New York, Rutgers University and Princeton University.
In addition to her public lecture, she will also visit two political science classes during her visit to Linfield.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
