The Linfield Women?s Vocal Ensemble, Divisi Women?s Ensemble, Willamette GirlChoir and SilverSong Women?s Ensemble will perform. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students K-12. Linfield students are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling the Willamette GirlChoir at 503-370-6383.
The groups will perform separately and together, presenting a program ranging from excerpts from "Hansel and Gretl" and "Rigoletto" to pop music.
The Linfield Women?s Ensemble is a semester-long performance class led by Debra Huddleston, adjunct professor of music at Linfield. Huddleston received a bachelor and master?s degree from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. In addition to leading the Linfield Women?s Ensemble, Huddleston is director of music for the SilverSong Women?s Ensemble, the First Presbyterian Church in Woodburn and Salem Madrigal Singers. She also regularly accompanies groups at Portland State University and for the Portland Flute Society and Willamette Master Chorus.
SilverSong Women?s Ensemble, also under the direction of Huddleston, was formed in 1999. The group has toured in Austria, performing in many of the halls and churches where Mozart, Bruckner, Haydn and Schubert worked and performed.
The Willamette Girlchoir, founded in 1992 by artistic director Caren Jensen, consists of four ensembles ranging in age from fourth grade through high school. Since its inception, the group has performed in England and traveled to Carnegie Hall. The group has participated in honor choirs and in workshops with Choral Music Experience in Chicago.
Divisi, founded in 2001, is the only women?s a cappella group at the University of Oregon. The 11-member group performs weekly in the Erb Memorial Union Amphitheater for UO students and has performed extensively on the West Coast. Divisi has a diverse repertoire encompassing music from doo-wop to contemporary hits.
