11/11/2003 Linfield radio station to host concert for food bank
McMINNVILLE ? The Linfield College radio station, KSLC-FM, will host "Funk for Food," a concert to benefit the Yamhill County Food Bank.
The concert will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Fred Meyer Lounge in Riley Hall. Admission to the concert is $1 or two cans of food.
Seven bands from McMinnville, Corvallis and Eugene will perform during the evening including "Two Hot Pockets and a Weiner" and "Sean and Shane," both comprised of Linfield students, and "Knee Deep," "Tinitus" and "Marco Polio," all made up of McMinnville High School students. "Late Night Specials," a Eugene band, along with "Misplaced by Closeness" from Corvallis, will also perform.
KSLC-FM 90.3 will broadcast the concert live, according to Julie Kanago, KSLC-FM general manager. She said the event is an opportunity to benefit a good cause while enjoying an evening of live music.
"If we can help others who are less fortunate, we ought to, especially at a time when there are large unemployment rates and many people who need that kind of help," said Kanago, a junior majoring in sociology from Spokane, Wash.
The concert is sponsored by KSLC-FM, The Vortex, Third Street Pizza and Print Northwest. For more information contact Kanago at 503-883-2550 or Nancy Cornwell, KSLC-FM faculty advisor, at 503-883-2271.
